Citrus City Grill "Orange"

In the artistic district of orange, ca is a bustling hubbub of eclectic shops and restaurants. Citrus City Grill is on glassell and down the street from "the big tree" This area is one of me and Priscilla's my favorite spots. There is so much artistry to absorb be that artistry expressed in food or color. Sunday is brunch day which is how we will refer to this day from now on. Friday Saturday Brunchday. The scene is trendy, vibrant and upscale and the brunch is served with varying amounts mimosas. Brunch or I should I say breakfast and lunch and maybe dinner too and also through in a siesta because they got it all and they do it right. Crepes, bacon, waffles, eggs Benedict and florentine, tri tip, honeyed ham and fruits and salads and more. Priscilla is not typically a fan of going out for Mexican food as we both feel Mexican is done best at home. However the taco bar they had here ha her talking up the place like crazy. One bite an I understood why.

C'est La Vie "Laguna Beach"

C'est La Vie "Laguna Beach"

Down near main beach in Laguna there is a quaint old world style French restaurant named C'est La Vie. C'est la Vie in French means "such is life" and this restaurant is full of the richness of French living and flavors. Absent are the contemporary and mundane flavors of the trendy French American fair and in it's place exist the subtle nuances of an experience and refined master chef. Nothing we tried here was only what it seemed. Every dish we tried had a secret to it. Something you would only notice if you loved food like a painter loves color. There was an experience behind each dish and we found ourselves "oohing and awing" over nearly every bite, our sideways glances betraying our childlike delight. The bread they served before the meal was a traditional crusty French baguette that will not disappoint you. Priscilla ordered the Le Royal (a crab crepe) that had enormous chunks of delicious dungenous crab covered with a light cream sauce that was perfect for the dish. I ordered the spinach quiche which had a perfect crust, neither too heavy nor too light, and the cheese on the top was baked to a perfect golden brown. The filling was balance and flavorful. I would change nothing about this quiche. The desert tray was beautiful and almost had a sensual quality to it's allure. Don't let them show you the desert tray if you are of a weak constitution as you will cave in to this sinful                            array of delectable pleasures. The desserts here were unmatched in beauty and
flavor as each one looks like a display piece for a fine dining catalogue. Priscilla had the mango mouse which with each bite brought memory of her grandmothers home in Hawaii, so acutely accurate and familiar were the flavors. I had the apricot frangipane to give my namesake a try. The crust was firm and flavors rich it was not to too sweet and the flavors were pleasant.
C'est la Vie sits almost on the water in Laguna Beach. We sat facing the ocean able to watch the waves roll in as we enjoyed our meal. Our server was quick attentive but not over present and they accommodated us in our special requests. We will be back
justice Frangipane
